PTFoMS extends condolences over the death of photojournalist who was covering the Traslacion

The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) has expressed its condolences to the bereaved family of photojournalist Itoh Son.

Son passed away while performing his duties amid the Traslacion earlier today.

In a statement, PTFoMS said Son suffered a heart attack.

Despite reportedly having flu symptoms in recent days, Son continued to cover the early activities of the Traslacion, including the “Pahalik.”

According to the task force, the photojournalist’s dedication to his work despite his illness is a testament to his passion for his profession.

PTFoMS added that this incident should also serve as a reminder to all members of the media to remain vigilant about their health and safety while carrying out their duties.

Meanwhile, Father Robert Arellano clarified that Son’s death did not occur during the actual Traslacion.

He said the incident happened outside the procession and was due to an existing health condition, and not because of participation in the activity.
