PNP to enforce ‘maximum tolerance’ during Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will tighten security measures for the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

In line with this, the agency will implement “maximum tolerance” amid the expected protest actions set to take place along EDSA today.

Earlier reports said the PNP deployed more than 4,000 police personnel along EDSA and in other parts of Manila.

According to PNP Directorate for Operations Acting Director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., the police aim to prevent a repeat of incidents in previous years when some groups attempted to march toward Malacañang Palace while holding rallies.

As a result, the PNP has assigned additional personnel to secure Ayala Bridge and Mendiola.
