Thousands of migrants in Spain seek asylum amid border crisis

Thousands of migrants in Ceuta, Spain, are calling for asylum and protection as they remain stranded in the Spanish territory following a mass border crossing from Morocco.

Hundreds gathered at a beach to protest their situation, urging Spanish authorities not to return them to Morocco and to provide a clear solution to their uncertain status.

The migrants are part of an estimated 5,000 to 8,000 people who entered the territory during the mass crossing two weeks ago.

Many continue to stay in difficult conditions in beaches and areas outside the city while waiting for assistance and a decision from authorities.

The Spanish government, however, maintained that irregular migrants will not be allowed to remain in Ceuta or travel to mainland Spain, except those classified as highly vulnerable.

The situation highlights the continuing migration and asylum challenges along Europe’s southern borders, particularly in Spanish territories bordering Morocco.
