Philippine National Police Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil said there were also policemen who were killed, injured, dismissed from service, charged and imprisoned while performing their duties.
According to the PNP’s official data from July 2016 to June 2022, 312 police officers were killed and 974 injured while performing their duties.
There are also 214 police officers who have been charged with criminal and administrative cases.
According to the data, 191 police officers have been removed from service in the past six years, 221 of whom have pending dismissal orders, of which 20 police officers are currently detained for various cases.
Marbil said this is just a proof that the police are also feeling the impact of the anti-drug campaign of the previous administration.
Along with acknowledging the dedication of the police who are doing their job, the police chief calls for support for them.
Although the previous administration has promised them full support, many police officers face their cases on their own.
Marbil promised that they will make the law enforcement balanced and humane so that they can further enhance the performance of their mandate.
