A woman was stabbed to death inside her home in Purok 8, Barangay Poblacion, Mawab, Davao de Oro, on Saturday, Sept. 5, according to police.
The Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office, through the Mawab Police Station, said the suspect was the victim’s live-in partner.
Police said neighbors heard an argument coming from the couple’s home. The dispute reportedly escalated into a stabbing after the suspect obtained a knife and stabbed the victim several times.
Both the victim and the suspect were taken to a hospital after the incident. The victim was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect also sustained stab wounds and remained under medical care, according to the information provided by police.
Authorities said a homicide complaint has been filed against the suspect, who is now in police custody.
A separate account of the incident identified the victim as Estrella and the suspect as Virgillo, but it gave different ages for the two compared with the police information. Because of the discrepancy, the ages are not included in this report.
The incident reportedly happened past 8 p.m. Saturday at the couple’s residence in Purok 8.
The Mawab Municipal Police Station continues to handle the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
Authorities said the case has already been filed with the prosecutor’s office, while the suspect remains in custody.
The incident resulted in the death of the woman following the reported dispute inside their residence, with police now pursuing the homicide case against her live-in partner.
