The Philippine Embassy in Hanoi has urged Filipinos visiting or residing in Vietnam to secure travel insurance in preparation for possible medical emergencies.
The advisory comes amid reported food poisoning incidents in the country.
According to the embassy, travel insurance can help provide sufficient funds for medical expenses and other emergencies.
Filipinos were also advised to be cautious about the food and water they consume and to patronize only hotels and restaurants with good reputations and proper standards.
The embassy likewise recommended drinking bottled water.
Based on data from Vietnam’s Ministry of Health, 58 food poisoning outbreaks were recorded in the first half of 2026, affecting 1,573 people and resulting in 10 deaths.
In 2025, Vietnam recorded 84 food poisoning outbreaks, affecting 2,301 people and leaving 16 people dead.
