Pickup crumpled, armored car overturns in Himamaylan City crash

A couple and their 2-year-old child were unharmed after a pickup truck collided with an armored car late Wednesday morning in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, police said.

The crash happened at about 11 a.m. on Feb. 25 in Barangay Aguisan. The front portion of the pickup truck was heavily damaged, while the armored car overturned and landed in a nearby sugarcane field after the impact.

Authorities said both occupants of the armored car and the three people inside the pickup truck, including the couple and their young child, were safe following the collision.

Initial police investigation showed the two vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when the incident occurred.

Investigators said an object allegedly fell from the back of the pickup truck, prompting the driver to make a U-turn. The maneuver resulted in the vehicle colliding with the oncoming armored car.

Police said the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash and possible liabilities.

No injuries were reported among the five people involved, according to authorities.
