Philippines, US conduct joint maritime activity in Manila Bay

The Philippines and the United States conducted a Bilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MCA) in Manila Bay and nearby waters off Mariveles, Bataan, aimed at improving coordination and strengthening maritime security efforts.

According to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the activity focused on enhancing interoperability between Philippine and US forces. The joint effort also aimed to sustain maritime response capabilities across Philippine Maritime Zones.

Participating Philippine assets included the BRP Antonio Luna (FFG15), two A-29B Super Tucano aircraft, one C-208B aircraft, and a Sokol Search and Rescue aircraft. The Philippine Coast Guard also deployed the BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV 8301) as part of the exercise.

On the US side, the US Navy deployed its 7th Fleet flagship, USS Blue Ridge (LCC-19), to take part in the maritime activity.

In a statement, the AFP said the successful conduct of the MCA reflects the continuing commitment of both the Philippines and the United States to strengthen coordination between their forces. The agency added that the joint activity supports efforts to ensure regional maritime security, stability, and adherence to international law.

The AFP also reaffirmed its commitment to building stronger defense capabilities and improving the country’s ability to protect its maritime interests.
