Cash assistance for PUV and TNVS drivers set for rollout next week

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to ensure the distribution of assistance to the transport sector amid rising oil prices.

Following the rollout of cash relief assistance (CRA) for tricycle drivers, the agency confirmed that Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) drivers in Metro Manila will begin receiving aid on March 24.

According to DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao, the distribution of CRA for TNVS drivers will start on Tuesday.

Based on agency data, as of March 20, more than 34,000 TNVS drivers in the National Capital Region are expected to receive assistance next week.

Meanwhile, around 20,000 jeepney drivers, 83,000 delivery riders, and 34,000 motorcycle taxi riders are also scheduled to receive aid.

Dumlao explained that the rollout will be done in phases: TNVS drivers on Tuesday; jeepney drivers on Wednesday; delivery riders on Thursday and Friday; and motorcycle taxi riders on Saturday.

The agency is also coordinating with the Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board to implement the program in other regions.
