DICT: Roblox will not be banned in the Philippines

Roblox leadership is currently in the Philippines to meet with government officials.

This comes amid the growing number of young Filipinos active online and the rising reports of sexual predation, grooming, and exploitation linked to the platform.

According to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), they met with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and Digital Pinoys, together with the Roblox team, to discuss and address the issues surrounding the platform—particularly Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC).

The discussions also aimed to ensure that online gaming remains safe, enjoyable, and properly guided for the youth.

In relation to this, the DICT announced that it has been agreed that Roblox will not be banned in the Philippines.

Representatives from the platform reportedly presented stricter safeguards, including enhanced monitoring, improved reporting mechanisms, and age-appropriate content controls.

On April 12, Roblox is also set to conduct an information campaign to strengthen safeguards and provide guidance to parents on its use.

It can be recalled that CICC Undersecretary Renato “Aboy” Paraiso earlier said that the possible ban on Roblox in the Philippines would depend on the outcome of the scheduled meeting.
