The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it continues its efforts to locate the remaining passengers of the sunken M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 in Basilan.
In an interview, PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan said that the missing individuals are still being treated under search and rescue operations.
He added that additional assets are set to be deployed.
Gavan also confirmed that all the vessel’s certificates were valid.
Amid the issue, he gave assurance to the public, saying they will do everything to determine the cause of the incident.
He said the investigation will be expedited and conducted in a transparent manner.
Meanwhile, during a press conference earlier this morning, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez stressed that they are ensuring that a similar incident will not happen again.
The entire passenger fleet of Aleson Shipping Lines has been suspended, and the roadworthiness of the vessels will be inspected.
Lopez also emphasized that if the investigation finds lapses on the part of the government, those responsible will be held accountable.
