Motorcyclist dies in solo crash in Gensan

A 31-year-old motorcyclist died following a self-accident along the road fronting Notre Dame of Dadiangas University in General Santos City.

The fatal incident happened at dawn on January 25, 2026, involving the victim identified only as alias Ryan.

Authorities said the victim was a resident of Barangay Fatima and was traveling alone at the time of the crash.

Witnesses reported that the motorcycle was moving at high speed, causing stones to scatter as it raced along the roadway.

The rider allegedly hit a “No Parking” signage in front of the university before striking a concrete island nearby.

Some witnesses added that the motorcycle also hit a road marker before continuing straight and eventually crashing violently.

According to Traffic Enforcement Unit head PLTCOL Patrick Elma, no other vehicle was involved in the incident.

Initial investigation showed the motorcycle was coming from the underpass and heading toward St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Upon reaching the Notre Dame of Dadiangas University area, the rider allegedly lost control and accidentally hit the parking sign.

The impact caused the motorcycle to veer forward and strike the concrete island within the school premises.

Responding personnel rushed the victim to Dr. Jorge P. Royeca Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

However, doctors declared the motorcyclist dead on arrival due to severe injuries sustained from the crash.

The victim’s family is currently arranging the handling and release of the body as they process the tragic loss.

Authorities continue to remind motorists to observe speed limits and exercise caution to prevent similar tragedies.
