PBBM shakes hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping

South Korea has officially turned over the APEC Summit chairmanship to China for next year.

During the turnover ceremony in Gyeongju, South Korea, President Bongbong Marcos was seen approaching and shaking hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Presidential Communications Office has yet to release information on whether the two leaders held bilateral talks during the summit.

Earlier, the Department of Foreign Affairs clarified that no meeting was scheduled between President Marcos and Xi.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, President Marcos said he extended his congratulations to Xi for China’s chairmanship in 2026.

He also reaffirmed the country’s commitment to Philippine-Chinese relations and meaningful cooperation in the region.
