Thousands of households in Iloilo City will experience power interruptions on Sunday, October 19, as MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) supports the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in its scheduled maintenance work on major transmission lines.
The activity aims to ensure a more stable and reliable power supply across Iloilo City, but it will require a series of temporary shutdowns affecting multiple feeders and substations.
According to MORE Power’s advisory released Friday, the longest interruption will last 12 hours, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will affect consumers connected to the Molo, Diversion, and Arevalo substations, including areas near the provincial capitol.
The outage will cover Flores Gloria, Roxas Village, and San Jose, along with parts of Arsenal-Aduana, Danao, Delgado-Jalandoni-Bagumbayan, Ed Ganzon, Hipodromo, Inday, Jalandoni-Wilson, Kahirupan, Kauswagan, Liberation, Magsaysay, Nonoy, Rizal Estanzuela, Rizal Pala Pala I, Sampaguita, San Agustin, and Yulo-Arroyo, all within the City Proper — totaling 1,622 affected connections.
Meanwhile, customers under Molo Feeder 3 will encounter two shorter outages: from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., and again from 5 pm. to 6 pm.
A separate three-hour outage will hit Barangays Osmeña, Rima Rizal, Rizal Ibarra, and Rizal Pala Pala II, as well as portions of Inday, Kauswagan, Magsaysay, Maria Clara, Nonoy, Rizal Pala Pala I, San Felix, Taal, and Villa Anita in the City Proper, and Nabitasan in La Paz. These areas will lose power from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and again from 4:30 pm to 6 pm.
MORE Power will also perform a ride-on activity from 6 am to 2 pm in Barangays Libertad, Progreso, and Sinikway, and parts of Alalasan, Don Esteban, Jalandoni Estate, Lapuz Norte, Lapuz Sur, Loboc, and Punong in the Lapuz District; Danao and Ed Ganzon in the City Proper; and Lopez Jaena Sur in La Paz.
The power distributor advised consumers to plan ahead, unplug sensitive electrical devices, and expect possible fluctuations once electricity is restored.
“Scheduled maintenance work like this is necessary to maintain system reliability and prevent unplanned outages in the future,” MORE Power said in its statement.*
