The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has expressed its support for the Truth Commission, emphasizing the importance of uncovering the truth in strengthening democratic institutions and maintaining public trust.
According to NAPOLCOM Commissioner Ralph Calinisan, the pursuit of truth is essential, especially for families seeking answers and justice.
Calinisan said the commission supports the quest for truth and the work of the newly launched Truth Commission.
He stressed that the government owes it to victims, their families, and future generations to confront difficult realities with honesty, fairness, and respect for due process.
“The Commission supports the quest for truth. We owe it to the victims, their families, and future generations to confront difficult realities with honesty, fairness, and respect for due process. Uncovering the truth is not a threat to our institutions—it is what makes them stronger,” Calinisan said.
He added that revealing the truth should not be viewed as a threat to institutions but rather as a means of making them stronger.
The NAPOLCOM also assured the public that it is prepared to carefully study and act on any recommendations that may be submitted by the Truth Commission within the scope of its mandate.
The agency likewise reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, reform, justice, public trust, and respect for human dignity.
