Only films rated “G” and “PG” should be shown inside public utility vehicles (PUVs) and other common carriers.
This was the reminder issued by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) amid the expected surge of travelers this Holy Week.
In a memorandum, the agency directed transport operators to comply with existing rules on the screening of films in public transportation.
According to the MTRCB, only movies or trailers classified as General Patronage (G) and Parental Guidance (PG) are allowed to be shown inside common carriers.
MTRCB Chairperson and CEO Lala Sotto explained that “G” is suitable for all audiences and contains no scenes harmful to children, while “PG” may include some sensitive scenes or themes that require parental guidance, especially for minors.
The policy covers buses, ships, and other vehicles that screen movies during travel.
Sotto said the measure aims to protect commuters, particularly children, from inappropriate content while on the road.
