Team Philippines eyes bigger Gold Medal Haul in Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

Team Philippines is aiming to raise the bar in the upcoming Asian Games, with the Philippine Olympic Committee confident that the national delegation can surpass its four-gold medal haul from the 2022 edition.

POC President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino is putting his trust in a strong lineup of medal hopefuls led by gymnastics stars Carlos and Eldrew Yulo, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, and tennis standout Alex Eala.

The Philippines is also counting on its athletes in boxing, jiu-jitsu, judo, and other sports to deliver more medals for the country.

With more than 400 athletes expected to make up the Philippine delegation, the POC is targeting a stronger overall medal finish in Aichi-Nagoya.

Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas will face a major test as it seeks to defend its Asian Games basketball title, with several key players set to miss the competition.

The 20th Asian Games will take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
