The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., has vowed to hold accountable those behind the deadly ambush that killed five police officers and injured three others in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur.
The assurance was delivered during the Traditional Monday Flag Raising Ceremony held on the morning of March 30, 2026, at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
A one-minute moment of silence was observed during the ceremony to honor the fallen police officers. Nartatez strongly condemned the ambush, describing the attack as not only an assault against police personnel but also against peace, order and the rule of law.
He emphasized that acts of violence such as the ambush have no place in society and assured that the police force would not be intimidated while pursuing those responsible for the incident.
The PNP chief reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to justice, saying authorities would continue their efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind the attack.
Meanwhile, Nartatez also extended condolences to the families of the victims and assured them of the organization’s full support.
“Their sacrifice will not be forgotten, and it will not be in vain. No words will ever be enough, but you have our commitment. Hindi pababayaan ng PNP ang inyong pamilya,” Nartatez said.
Authorities have maintained that the PNP remains firm in its mission to uphold peace and order while ensuring justice for the slain officers and their families.
