A 33-year-old mother was arrested by the Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) Visayas Field Unit for allegedly trafficking her two underage daughters online in Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
Authorities rescued the victims, two sisters aged 13 and 15, during an entrapment operation in Barangay Sta. Rosa. The suspect, who works as a cake baker, had reportedly been under surveillance since July 2023.
According to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, investigators gathered substantial evidence before the operation. Reports indicate that the suspect charged P2,000 per transaction, allowing both foreign and local individuals to view explicit content involving her children.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has taken custody of the rescued minors, who will undergo medical and psychological assessment.
Meanwhile, the suspect is currently detained at Police Station 1 of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office. She faces charges under Section 4(a) of Republic Act 11862, also known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022.
