Marcos warns legacy may be erased if next leaders fail to continue reforms

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has expressed concern that the accomplishments of his administration could be undone if succeeding leaders fail to continue ongoing programs and reforms, Malacañang said.

The Palace clarified the President’s remarks after he stated in an interview that he fears his legacy and the achievements of his administration could be erased if future leadership does not sustain them.

According to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, one of the key initiatives cited by the President involves investigations into allegedly anomalous flood control projects. Castro said the probe is a significant step that should be carried forward to ensure accountability.

Castro noted that these initiatives are among the efforts that could be lost if not maintained by the next administration. She added that failure to continue such programs may allow questionable practices to resurface and could lead to the neglect of holding responsible parties accountable.

The Palace reiterated that sustaining reforms and ongoing investigations remains critical to preserving the gains achieved during the current administration.
