The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) encouraged Filipinos to take part in the 20th anniversary of Earth Hour.
The agency urged the public to switch off lights and unplug unnecessary devices in observance of Earth Hour 2026.
According to DENR Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna, the effort cannot be carried out by the government alone.
He emphasized that collective action—even for just one hour—can help conserve electricity and protect the environment.
He added that this is also a step toward safeguarding homes and the future.
Meanwhile, the World Wide Fund for Nature-Philippines (WWF-PH) also called on Filipinos to practice Earth Hour habits daily, beyond simply turning off lights once a year.
