Marcos orders faster completion of infrastructure projects

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Public Works and Highways to accelerate the completion of pending infrastructure projects across the country.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the government is working intensively to finish projects that are expected to provide long-term benefits to the public.

The president emphasized that faster and efficient implementation would allow communities to feel the impact of public infrastructure sooner.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon reported to the president on the status of several major projects. Among them is the Bukidnon–Davao Road, where repair works have been completed after damage last year.

Repairs have also been finished on the sinkhole along Kennon Road and on the Apalit section of the McArthur Highway–Buhang Flyover in Jaro, Iloilo.

Rehabilitation work continues on sections of the Maharlika Highway in Gumaca, Quezon; Samar; and Guinobatan, Albay.

Meanwhile, EDSA Rehabilitation Phase I is nearly 50% complete and is targeted for completion in June, according to the report.

Officials also reported the planned opening in March of a temporary bridge connector that will replace the Cabagan–Santa Maria Bridge in Isabela. The temporary structure will accommodate small vehicles.

In Oriental Mindoro, a makeshift bridge in Sitio Bongabong was also inspected. Authorities plan to replace it with a stronger, permanent bridge to improve crossings for residents.

The Palace said the administration is pushing for the faster delivery of infrastructure projects so the public can immediately benefit from improved roads, bridges, and transport links across various regions.
