The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) presents Daryll Isidro, who went viral after wearing and altering a police uniform as a Halloween costume.
Isidro personally apologizes to NAPOLCOM Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Calinisan, explaining he never meant to disrespect the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Calinisan accepts the apology but emphasizes that the PNP uniform symbolizes honor, discipline, and service that must always be respected.
Last October 31, Isidro attended a Halloween event wearing a modified PNP uniform, cutting its sleeves and posting photos online.
The images quickly spread across social media, drawing criticism and concern from law enforcement officials and netizens nationwide.
Calinisan issued a show-cause order, calling Isidro’s act “total disrespect” to uniformed personnel and warning of possible legal consequences.
Under Article 179 of the Revised Penal Code, improper use of uniforms or insignia may result in penalties or imprisonment.
Isidro faced the media beside Calinisan and expressed remorse, saying he admired policemen and viewed them as “superheroes” since childhood.
The NAPOLCOM chief symbolically tore the show-cause order after accepting Isidro’s apology, ending the matter with compassion and a stern reminder.
Moving forward, NAPOLCOM plans tighter coordination with the PNP to curb unauthorized sale of police uniforms and similar paraphernalia in public markets.
The agency will launch educational campaigns reminding citizens that uniforms represent duty, not costume entertainment or novelty fashion statements.
Officials hope the incident will encourage public respect for national symbols and promote awareness of laws protecting uniformed institutions from misuse or mockery.
