Some areas in Metro Manila have suspended classes on Monday due to extreme high heat index.
Based on the announcement of the local government units (LGUs) classes were suspended at all levels in Malabon and Las Pinas City.
Caloocan and Valenzuela will implement asynchronous learning from Kinder to senior high school.
Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna also ordered the suspension of afternoon classes at all levels starting 12:00 noon Monday.
Lacuna based her order on the weather forecast that Manila’s heat index will range from 36-38 degrees Celsius in the morning and will peak at 42 degree Celsius around 2:00 pm.
Pasay City also declared suspension of afternoon classes at all levels both in public and private schools.
Some schools totally suspended their classes while some shifted to online classes.
PAGASA said the temperature could reach 46 degrees Celsius in some areas of the country, especially in Science Garden Quezon City, Clark Airport Pampanga, CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
