Lawmaker dismayed by PBBM’ statement that ICI’s work is nearing completion

House Deputy Minority Leader Rep. Leila de Lima questioned President Bongbong Marcos’ statement suggesting that the investigation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) into the flood control scandal is nearing its end.

According to De Lima, the President’s way of thinking is disappointing.

She said the commission still has a huge workload, yet the President believes it is already “coming towards the end.”

The lawmaker added that the ICI has not even finished examining the anomalies in flood control projects, and that there are still other infrastructure projects that should also be investigated.

In closing, De Lima stressed to the President that the fate of the ICI should not depend on how much work remains, but on how committed it is to holding all those involved in corruption accountable.

She also said there is a need to pass a law that would establish a stronger, more transparent, and more independent commission.
