ICC denies allegations made by supposed 18 ex-Marines

The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has responded to allegations made by the supposed 18 former Marines claiming that former Ako Bicol party-list Representative Zaldy Co and former senator Antonio Trillanes IV funded the hotel accommodations of ICC investigators, suggesting possible corruption.

The allegations were revealed by the former Marines along with their lawyer, Levi Baligod.

In its defense, the ICC said that its activities are funded by the Court’s own resources.

It added that its expenditures are strictly monitored to ensure independence and transparency.

It can be recalled that the ICC continues its investigation into the bloody war on drugs under former President Rodrigo Duterte.

According to Baligod, the international court’s investigators did not conduct a “bona fide” investigation in the country regarding the issue, claiming that they only interviewed witnesses of Trillanes.

Trillanes has previously denied the accusations and vowed to pursue legal action against the lawyer and other personalities who have been making allegations against him.
