Holy sites in Jerusalem to remain closed this weekend amid tensions

Israeli police confirmed that all holy sites in the Old City of Jerusalem will remain closed through the weekend, with worshippers not allowed to enter.

The move comes amid the continuing tensions in the Middle East.

Authorities said the sites affected include the Western Wall, Al-Aqsa Mosque, Temple Mount complex, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

On Thursday, Israel’s Home Front Command slightly eased restrictions, allowing gatherings of up to 50 people, provided they stay close to their homes.

The military also said workplaces may reopen, but they must be located near shelters.

Meanwhile, schools and other educational institutions remain closed.
