After decades as one of Hollywood’s most iconic action stars, Harrison Ford is ready to step away from the spotlight. At 82, the Indiana Jones and Star Wars legend says he’s finally preparing for retirement—but not without conditions.
Ford confirmed in a recent interview that he plans to stop working once he wraps his remaining roles, including the hit Paramount+ series 1923 and the Apple TV+ dramedy Shrinking, which is set to return for a third season.
Hollywood goodbye: Ford says it’s time to focus on family
The announcement comes after years of urging from his wife, actress Calista Flockhart. Insiders say the Ally McBealstar has been asking Ford to slow down and spend more time at their 800-acre ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
In Filipino, a source close to the couple said Calista has long been vocal about wanting Harrison to quit the nonstop work and enjoy a quieter life. Another insider added that she has finally succeeded in convincing him to prioritize home life over Hollywood.
Ford admitted he’s ready for a change and wants to dedicate more time to family. He said he has passions beyond acting and wants to explore them.
Retiring from movies—but not from the skies
While the retirement news delighted Calista, sources say she hit a wall when it came to one of Ford’s biggest passions—flying. The Oscar-nominated actor, a licensed pilot, has no intention of giving up aviation despite past health scares and a life-threatening crash in 2015.
The crash happened when Ford’s vintage World War II training plane lost engine power shortly after takeoff. He managed to land on a golf course in Venice, California, but suffered serious injuries including a shattered ankle and pelvis, a broken back, and a head wound.
Still, he refuses to quit. A friend of the couple shared in Filipino that kahit ilang beses nang sinabihan ni Calista, ayaw pa rin talagang tumigil ni Harrison sa paglipad.
In fact, Ford said in the same interview that he hopes to fly even more. He’s often seen at his home airport and continues to pilot his private aircraft across the country.
Those closest to the couple say that if fans want to catch a glimpse of Ford these days, they’re better off heading to an airfield than a movie theater.
Although Ford’s acting career may be nearing its final act, his love for the skies remains as strong as ever.
