Fire hits Puerto Princesa old market: over 20 stalls destroyed, vehicles affected

A fire broke out this Wednesday afternoon at the Old Public Market in Puerto Princesa City, particularly in the Gulayan section along Bonoan Road.

Flames engulfed over 20 stalls inside the market, including vegetable, plastic, and second-hand clothing shops, sending tenants and shoppers into panic.

According to witnesses, the fire started in a broom store and quickly spread due to strong winds, which pushed the flames to the neighboring building.

The fire damaged several vehicles parked near the market, while residents hurriedly evacuated to avoid danger.

Fire volunteers immediately responded and continue fighting the blaze with available equipment, while authorities assess the full extent of damage to the market and merchandise.
