Fil-Am Autumn Arkapaw becomes first woman to win Best Cinematography at the Oscars

Filipino-American cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw won the Best Cinematography award at the Academy Awards for the film Sinners directed by Ryan Coogler.

In her acceptance speech, Arkapaw thanked her director for the trust given to her.

As the first woman of color to receive the award, she encouraged women to stand their ground and pursue their ambitions.

She said she would not be where she is today without their support.

Arkapaw also expressed hope that the recognition she received would inspire young girls to pursue careers in cinematography.
