Family of three, including soldier, dead in dump truck crash in Davao de Oro

A family of three, including a soldier, died in a road accident along the national highway in Pantukan, Davao de Oro, on Monday night, October 27, 2025.

The Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office said the victims were riding a motorcycle along Purok 1, Piape, Barangay Magnaga, when they were hit by a dump truck around 7 p.m.

Police identified the victims as a 30-year-old soldier, a 33-year-old woman, and a 13-year-old child. All three were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared dead on arrival by attending doctors.

Initial investigation showed that the dump truck was speeding in the opposite lane when it suddenly attempted to overtake another vehicle, crashing head-on into the victims’ motorcycle.

Authorities have taken the dump truck driver into custody at the Pantukan Municipal Police Station for proper disposition as investigation continues.

Police reminded motorists to strictly observe traffic regulations, especially on national highways, to prevent similar fatal incidents. The tragic crash has sparked renewed concern over road safety in Davao de Oro.
