The decomposed body of a 15-year-old girl who had been missing since April was found Monday inside an abandoned house in Laak, Davao de Oro, police confirmed.
According to the Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office, the body was discovered in Purok 3A, Barangay Poblacion, already in an advanced state of decomposition. Authorities said the victim’s mother confirmed her identity after being called to the scene.
Police said the girl had been listed as missing for over six months. The family had reported her disappearance in April 2025, but no significant leads surfaced until the discovery of the body.
Investigators from the Provincial Forensic Unit have taken custody of the remains for autopsy and DNA testing. Authorities aim to determine the cause of death and whether the victim was sexually assaulted or subjected to foul play.
Police have yet to release details on how the body was found or who discovered it. The investigation remains ongoing while the family awaits official forensic results.
