Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio has called on the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to make its hearings on the flood control project anomalies open to the public.
In an interview, Carpio said the decision to keep the hearings private is “very suspicious.”
He questioned why the proceedings are not being opened to the public when even criminal trials are made public.
According to him, transparency is necessary.
Carpio warned that holding “closed-door hearings” could lead to a loss of public trust in the ICI.
He also urged President Bongbong Marcos to instruct the independent commission to correct the situation, saying its credibility is already being undermined.
