An engineer was shot dead while his wife was critically wounded in an attack by two unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen in Barangay Zone II, Koronadal City, on Wednesday morning.
Police identified the victim as Engr. Kesse Junsan, who was about to board a vehicle with his wife, Maria Miguel Junsan, in Doña Lourdes around 7 a.m. when the suspects arrived and opened fire.
Witnesses told police that the assailants, riding a motorcycle, approached the couple and fired multiple shots, hitting the victims in different parts of their bodies.
The couple was rushed to a nearby hospital, where Kesse Junsan was declared dead on arrival. His wife remains in critical condition.
Authorities from the Koronadal Police Station are conducting a follow-up investigation to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the shooting.
Police have not released further details on the suspects, who fled after the attack. Investigators are reviewing potential leads, including CCTV footage from the area.
