The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) welcomed the latest results of the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, which showed a decline in the incidence of hunger in the country.
The SWS survey, conducted from November 24 to 30, 2025, found that 20.1 percent of Filipino families experienced involuntary hunger at least once in the past three months.
This is lower compared to the 22 percent recorded in the third quarter of last year.
According to DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao, this is a positive recognition of the agency’s efforts.
She said that any reduction in the hunger rate, whether big or small, is already a victory for everyone.
Dumlao added that the decline indicates a gradual improvement in the situation of families experiencing hunger.
She also said the survey results will be used by the DSWD to further improve its public services.
In closing, the agency assured that it will continue implementing food assistance measures such as the “Walang Gutom Program” and the expansion of the “Walang Gutom Kitchen.”
