A 63-year-old tricycle driver died while a pedestrian was injured after they were struck by a pickup truck in a hit-and-run incident on Friday evening, May 2 in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu.
The crash happened past 6 p.m. along Barangay Pooc in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island. The fatality, identified only as Christopher, a resident of Barangay Maricaban, was reportedly on his way home.
A 45-year-old pedestrian named Marissa sustained a leg fracture and is scheduled for surgery.
According to the initial investigation by the Santa Fe Municipal Police Station, the pickup truck suddenly hit both victims before fleeing the scene.
Police arrested the driver—who is reportedly a 59-year-old woman from Madridejos—around 9 p.m. the same night. Authorities said she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during the arrest.
Christopher was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
Investigation is ongoing.
