Motorcycle rider shot dead in broad daylight in Mandaue City

A motorcycle rider was killed after being shot along the Cansaga Bridge in Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City, Cebu late Saturday morning, May 3.

Authorities identified the victim as Rudy, 58, an assistant supervisor of a shipyard company and a resident of Barangay Calawisan in Lapu-Lapu City.

According to the initial police investigation, the victim was traveling on his motorcycle when he was shot by a still unidentified suspect. The gunman was also riding a motorcycle without a license plate.

Witnesses told police that the suspect wore a black jacket, short pants, and a black half-face helmet. The shooting occurred past 11 a.m., causing alarm among passersby and motorists in the area.

Police have yet to determine the motive behind the killing and are currently conducting further investigation. Authorities are also reviewing security footage from the area in an attempt to identify and track down the suspect.

No arrests have been made as of this writing.
