Senate accepts Gerville Luistro’s apology over ‘wacky photos’

The Senate has accepted the apology of the House prosecution panel, particularly Rep. Gerville Luistro, over their controversial “wacky photos,” Senate President Win Gatchalian said.

Gatchalian said the Senate, as an institution, accepted the apology following the incident involving members of the prosecution panel in the impeachment trial.

Luistro previously explained that the photos were an “expression of joy,” saying the panel members were excited about the three-week break in the impeachment proceedings and had become carried away by their happiness.

Despite accepting the apology, Gatchalian stressed that the investigation into the matter would continue.

The senator also said he was waiting for the official report concerning the reported backtracking involving the closed-circuit television, or CCTV, issue.

Meanwhile, Gatchalian said he believed dancing inside the Senate was inappropriate, particularly because foreign dignitaries sometimes visit the institution.

The Senate president did not indicate when the official CCTV report would be released.

The acceptance of the apology does not mean the investigation has ended, as Gatchalian maintained that the inquiry would proceed.

Further details about the investigation and the awaited CCTV report were not provided in the original account.
