A 51-year-old employee of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was shot dead in broad daylight in Purok Capitol West, Barangay Kalawag 2.
The victim, identified as Jose Mangino Dasalla, was walking in the area around noon when two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle approached and opened fire using a .45 caliber pistol. Dasalla sustained four gunshot wounds in different parts of his body, killing him on the spot.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack, and an investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators.
