DOTr records higher passenger volume this year compared to 2025

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) reported a higher number of travelers this Holy Week 2026 compared to last year.

This comes despite the continued surge in petroleum prices due to tensions in the Middle East.

In an interview, DOTr Undersecretary Mark Steven Pastor said passenger volume at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) significantly increased starting Palm Sunday.

He noted that around 178,000 passengers were recorded on Sunday, higher than the 165,000 logged during the same period last year.

The DOTr explained that this may be due to advance bookings, as many travelers secured their trips days before the peak travel period this Holy Week.
