The Department of Health (DOH) has activated ‘code white alert’ across its facilities and regional units on Friday, September 25, to ensure rapid medical response as Severe Tropical Storm Opong (international name Bualoi) approaches the Philippine landmass.
Under the alert, the DOH Operations Center has prepositioned essential medicines, readied medical equipment, and mobilized Health Emergency Response Teams to quickly respond to emergencies in areas expected to be affected.
Three Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Teams stand by to reinforce hospitals that may need additional support during or after the storm, the health department said.
DOH has also placed the national emergency hotline 911 and local hotlines on high alert to provide immediate assistance.
Authorities urge the public to stay updated on weather advisories, prepare emergency kits, and follow health and safety measures to prevent accidents and illnesses during the cyclone.*
