DepEd assures faster reintegration initiatives for teachers from the Middle East

The Department of Education (DepEd) is ramping up preparations for Filipino teachers who were displaced and have returned to the country after being affected by the conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement, DepEd said it is expediting reintegration efforts, including classroom deployment, provision of employment opportunities, financial assistance, and educational support for their families.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara assured that teachers will not be left on their own, as the government is accelerating support systems for them.

He emphasized that teachers will not be made to face these challenges alone, as efforts are underway to make the process under the Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir (SPIMS) Program simpler, faster, and more accessible.

According to data from the Department of Migrant Workers, more than 8,000 teachers have received financial aid under the program, while over 500 have benefited from online refresher courses.
