The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has once again warned the public about a new scam scheme used to obtain personal information.
In an advisory, the agency cautioned against chat messages that promise cash aid in exchange for personal details.
In a social media post, the DSWD shared a screenshot of the message.
The message shows the sender promising to include the recipient in the list of beneficiaries of financial assistance from the DSWD.
Afterward, the sender attempts to obtain the recipient’s phone number.
The agency stressed that the message did not come from them.
They also emphasized that they never ask for personal information through chat or private messages in exchange for assistance.
According to the DSWD, if something is being asked in return, the public should be suspicious, as this is often how scams operate.
The agency advised everyone to remain vigilant and avoid sharing personal information.
