DepEd assures changes in classroom observation policies

Education Secretary Sonny Angara emphasized that the Department of Education (DepEd) is continuing its review of classroom observations to ensure the well-being of teachers.

In an interview, Angara said they have already revised the policy to prevent excessive pressure on teachers.

One of the changes, he explained, is that classroom observations are no longer conducted as surprise visits. Instead, these are now scheduled, allowing the observer and the teacher to coordinate and agree on the most appropriate time.

In closing, DepEd assured that it will implement the necessary adjustments to strengthen professional development without compromising the welfare of teachers.

It can be recalled that a teacher recently died at a school in Muntinlupa while a classroom observation activity was being conducted.
