More than 9 million devotees join Traslacion 2026

The Quiapo Church Command Post reported that an estimated 9.64 million devotees took part in this year’s Feast of the Black Nazarene.

The figure includes all activities related to the feast, such as the Novena Masses that began on December 31, 2025.

This number surpassed the 8.12 million devotees who participated in the Traslacion in 2025.

In addition, the church reported a total of 1,057 medical incidents recorded during the event.

Meanwhile, Nazareno 2026 spokesperson Father Robert Arellano earlier said that around 1,700 incidents were recorded, though the nature of these cases was not specified.

Four reported dead in Traslacion 2026, but feast still “generally peaceful” — NCRPO

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported four deaths during the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

According to NCRPO Director Major General Anthony Aberin, four fatalities were recorded based on their initial reports, though these still need to be verified.

The Quiapo Church has also confirmed that four people died during this year’s procession.

Three of the fatalities were devotees, while the fourth was photojournalist Itoh Son.

Despite these reports, Aberin maintained that the overall conduct of the feast was generally peaceful.
