The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has assured support in responding to the country’s ongoing oil crisis, allocating ₱238 billion for the effort.
In a statement, the DBM said the funds will be used for fuel subsidies for the transport sector, assistance for farmers and fisherfolk, healthcare support, and other social protection programs.
Of the total amount, ₱2.5 billion is allotted for fuel subsidies, while an additional ₱1 billion will be used for service contracting.
The funds will also support repatriation programs of the Department of Migrant Workers and employment initiatives of the Department of Labor and Employment.
According to the agency, the budget will be sourced from the 2026 national budget, continuing appropriations, and automatic appropriations.
Budget Secretary Rolando Toledo said that in times like these, subsidies help ensure that limited resources reach those who need them most.
