Kapuso actor and entrepreneur David Licauco admitted that he was affected by a remark made by his former love team partner, Barbie Forteza, during the press conference for the actress’ film Saving Cherry on August 3, 2026.
In a statement, Barbie described her Saving Cherry leading man Khalil Ramos as her “ideal leading man,” adding, “Finally, nagkaroon na ako ng leading man na maayos.”
Khalil stars opposite Barbie in the Regal Entertainment movie Saving Cherry and in the TV series Honor Thy Mother.
Barbie’s statement drew attention after some members of the media and fans interpreted it as a possible dig at David, even though she did not mention his name.
The issue was raised with David during the contract signing for the digital series he will be doing with Viva One on August 7, 2026.
David did not deny that Barbie’s remark affected him, but said it only affected him “a little bit.”
“Siguro to a degree, yes, it affects me a little bit,” David said.
He added that he simply tries to avoid stress-inducing issues, saying that he has his own life and does not want to dwell too much on such matters.
David also acknowledged that he still cares about how people perceive him, particularly his public image.
Meanwhile, some fans defended Barbie’s statement, saying that she was simply speaking about her experiences and has the right to express her opinion based on the people she has worked with.
Despite the issue, David said he remains open to the possibility of working with Barbie again in future projects.
David and Barbie, popularly known as the “BarDa” love team, rose to fame after starring together in the hit GMA-7 primetime series Maria Clara at Ibarra in 2022.
