The Department of Agriculture (DA) maintained that food prices remain stable despite the continued rise in fuel prices caused by tensions in the Middle East.
In a statement, the DA said it has monitored “selective” price increases, particularly for imported rice and locally produced beef and pork.
Despite this, the agency noted stable and even declining prices for chicken, eggs, fish, and vegetables.
Meanwhile, DA Assistant Secretary Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra assured that the DA Bantay Presyo Supply and Monitoring Team is closely monitoring the situation.
Guevarra said the team is strictly tracking the supply and prices of basic commodities across various markets nationwide.
