Central Philippines State University (CPSU) in Kabankalan City sent nine students and three faculty members to Indonesia on Friday, October 24, to participate in the 6th International Summer Course Program 2025 hosted by Universitas Negeri Malang (UM).
The delegation will stay in Indonesia from October 27 to 31 to take part in the week-long program, which aims to promote academic collaboration, sustainable education, and cultural exchange among participating universities from various countries.
The International Affairs and Linkages Office (IALO), headed by Dr. Joean Escober, facilitated CPSU’s participation.
Escober told Brigada News FM on Saturday, October 25, that this is the first time CPSU has sent students abroad for international exposure, while other students and faculty across the university system participated virtually from October 20 to 26.
She explained that the summer course program is part of CPSU’s ongoing collaboration with UM, one of its international partner institutions.
“This activity falls under our Student and Faculty Mobility Program, established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Universitas Negeri Malang,” she said, adding, “Through active collaboration with our international partner institutions, we aim to provide our students and faculty with transformative learning experiences that enhance global competence, academic excellence, and cross-cultural understanding.”
Escober also disclosed that the program includes sessions on sustainable tourism, visits to UM facilities, and cultural exchange activities involving students and faculty from different countries.
She said that, “Together, we continue to build a globally engaged CPSU community that contributes meaningfully to sustainable development and international academic cooperation.”
“This endeavor signifies that CPSU truly deserves every global recognition and award it receives, an affirmation of our pursuit of excellence, innovation, and impactful global engagement,” she added.*
