The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported positive results from the simulation exercises conducted over the weekend for the automated election system (AES) that will be used in the September parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
In a statement, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the mock elections were successfully carried out in Cotabato City, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, and Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
According to Garcia, the data transmission was “perfect” and proceeded without any interruptions.
The National Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) and the Institute for Autonomy and Governance served as election watchdogs during the activity.
The first-ever BARMM parliamentary elections are scheduled for September 14, 2026, and will utilize the automated election system.
More than 2.3 million registered voters across the region are expected to cast their ballots in nearly 1,200 voting centers.
